The intra-municipal public transport of the municipality of Agios Nikolaos is to be expanded with the introduction of a new bus line which will connect the town of Agios Nikolaos with the historic municipal communities of “Epano Mirabello”
In a recent announcement the Mayor of the municipality of Agios Nikolaos ,Mr Manolis Menegakis, expressed the intention to introduce this new route which will connect the above mentioned areas in the summer months of July and August. The new route will be serviced by a smaller (25-30 seater ) bus and will give better access to the previously isolated villages and areas of “Epano Mirabello.
The previous absence of public transport in the summer months had reinforced abandonment of these areas especially by the young but with the introduction of this new route easier access to both natives and tourists alike will hopefully bring life back to this historic area of the municipality , he noted.
The new line will be funded by both the local bus union ( KTEL) and the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos .
The new route , as announced, will start from SISI-Milatos and will connect the communities of Vrahasi – Latsida – Voulismeni – Neapolis – Houmeriako – Nikithiano – Limnes – Agios Nikolaos and back .
Moreover the Mayor of the municipality of Agios Nikolaos , Mr Manolis Menegakis ,stressed the importance of the introduction of this new route as it will not only upgrade the quality of life of local residents but also give better access to our visitors who can enjoy this traditional part of our Municipality. The use of public transport is a safe and easy way to travel ,saving recourses and protecting the environment at the same time , he added.
The Mayor of Agios Nikolaos would like to thank the Vice Mayor of Public Property and Daily Life , Mr Kaminogiannakis for his involvement and efforts in this new endeavor .
Our team will continue the efforts to bring residents and visitors to our municipality closer to each other the Mayor stated.
